May Day: Senator Mustapha hails workers’ dedication, sacrifice

As Nigeria commemorates 2025 Workers’ Day, the lawmaker representing Kwara Central in the National Assembly, Senator Saliu Mustapha, has lauded the unwavering commitment, dedication, and sacrifices of Nigerian workers, particularly those from his constituency in building a resilient and prosperous nation.

In a statement released to journalists on Thursday, Senator Mustapha acknowledged the invaluable contributions of workers to national progress and development.

Reflecting on this year’s theme, “Reclaiming the Civic Space in the Midst of Economic Hardship,” the senator emphasized the importance of civic engagement, urging workers, civil society groups, and marginalized communities to continue safeguarding their rights and actively participating in public discourse, especially during challenging economic times.

He noted that their commitment and hard work remain the foundation of the country’s economy and social stability.

Senator Mustapha, who expressed strong belief in the welfare and dignity of labour, pledged continued legislative support to improve working conditions, enhance job security, and tackle challenges faced by workers across sectors.

He also extended solidarity to members of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC), encouraging them to continue supporting the policies and initiatives of the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led administration in the shared goal of building a better Nigeria.

He wished Nigerian workers a peaceful and happy May Day celebration.
